Exercise & Mental Health Seminar

Led by River Rock strength training coach Gabriel Villarreal, this seminar will consist of a discussion on the overlapping fields of exercise and mental health, tackling the definitions of overweight vs. obesity, mental illness, and what it means to use as exercise as a form of therapy. Gabriel will talk about the science and research behind the benefits of exercise on one’s mental health as well as some common misuses of exercise. Afterwards there will be a Q&A, so bring your questions!

This seminar is free and open to the public.

Gabriel Villarreal is a Resident in Counseling and soon to be Licensed Practicing Counselor. He starts his mornings coaching at his gym, LostBoys Strength and Conditioning, and during the day he provides therapy at his practice ADHD Counseling in the Roanoke Valley. Once a week he hosts the podcast “Informed Consent” about community mental health to support incoming professionals. Gabriel has been interviewed on “ADHD ReWired” podcast, has written numerous articles for Mash Elite Performance, and has spoken at various health and wellness seminars.
