Help support the Play Roanoke Youth Climbing Club

We are bringing in a keg of Deschutes beer, going to have some great games and activities at the River Rock Climbing Gym, and will be firing up the grill for a cookout (we will have other side dishes available too). Food and drink will be available for purchase (two vouchers will be provided to current gym members) – with all proceeds from the evening going to the PLAY Roanoke Youth Climbing Club!

The PLAY Roanoke Youth Climbing Club was formed in 2018 to provide an opportunity for middle school age children from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds the experience of climbing on a weekly basis for 12 weeks. The largest benefit of this program is the opening of a door to an entirely different world of individual sport. These youth build relationships, learn trust, take leadership roles, problem solve, control and overcome fear and hone communication skills, all through the sport of climbing. Youth leave the program with increased confidence, strength, self-awareness and a willingness to ‘say YES to try’ — just like they did on the wall.
