Indoor to Outdoor Climbing

Do you have some gym climbing experience under your belt and feel ready to transition to outdoor climbing, but don’t really know how to start? This special class led by Swis Stockton, a Granite Arches climbing guide, is only being offered at The River Rock this Summer!

The class will cover:
-Gear Selection for outdoor climbing
-Objective hazards and LNT
-Rope management
-Knots and hitches
-Belay devices, techniques, and dynamics
-Anchor Overview
-Rappelling overview

Attendees should arrive prepared with paper and pencil for notes, a harness, and climbing shoes.

Participants must be 14 years of age or older. Must be Top Rope Belay verified. Lead Climbing verified is a plus. This clinic is $30 for members, $45 for non-members (day pass and rental gear not included). Registration is required as space is limited!

Swis Stockton is a Granite Arches climbing guide. He is also a Certified Rock Instructor, an AMGA Single Pitch Instructor Course Provider, and has written articles for Rock and Ice magazine. He has over 20 years of guiding experience and has climbed all over the world from New Hampshire to the Canadian Rockies to the Andes.
